Copy belonging to Frank Zappa with a single annotation in Zappa's hand on the top of the first page. <br /> <br /> Full provenance available.<br /> <br /> A transcript detailing multiple takes of ten scenes shot by Zappa for his long-planned but never finished experimental film. Transcript primarily addresses scenes featuring Don Preston and Phyllis Smith Altenhaus but also contains dialogue intended to be spoken by Carl Zappa Billy Mundi Aynsley Dunbar Jimmy Carl Black and Zappa himself. <br /> <br /> Originally innovated in 1967 by Zappa featuring his then-band the Mothers of Invention the film would morph in various ways over the course of the next decade but would ultimately never come to fruition due to a lack of financing. In 1969 the Mothers of Invention released the acclaimed double album "Uncle Meat" an instrumental soundtrack to the unfinished film. Finally in 1987 a direct-to-video "making of" documentary of the uncompleted film was released.<br /> <br /> Transparent front wrapper with orange back wrapper and spine. 59 leaves with last page of text numbered 58. Includes the "Television Call Sheet" from April 4th 2001 the 13th of 16 shooting days for the episode. Accompanied by a "Certificate of Authenticity" from James Doland of Paramount Pictures. This script is signed by the nine principal cast members of the series including: Kate Mulgrew Jeri Ryan Garret Wang Tim Russ Robert Duncan McNeil Roxann Dawson Robert Beltran Ethan Phillips and Robert Picardo. The two-hour series finale was filmed over a period of roughly fifteen to sixteen days beginning Monday March 19 2001 and wrapping principal photography on Monday April 9 2001 with second-unit work following on April 10 and 12. The production was carried out under strict secrecy with the cast receiving pages of the teleplay in sealed envelopes and only the main cast given full access to the script. Bound in after the script is an annotated list of scenes and several handwritten pages of Invernizzi's notes. Laid in with the script are three carbon typescript revision pages and several documents relating to production. Text in Italian.<br /> <br /> Based on Giovanni Guareschi's 1982 short story. Some scattered brownspots. <br/><br/><em>First appearance of a milestone paper in astronomy giving the solution of the great problem of distances in the universe which had baffled astronomers ever since the time of Copernicus announcing the FIRST SUCCESSFUL DISPLACEMENT OR PARALLAX OF A FIXED STAR and hence deducing the FIRST RELIABLE DISTANCE OF THE EARTH TO A FIXED STAR. The parallax observed corresponded to ab. 600.000 times that of the earth from the sun. On these grounds Bessel calculated the distance to about 11 light years and this was confirmed by fresh investigations by Bessel in 1839-40 the second paper offered. In 1842-43 it was also confirmed by C.A.F. Peters at Pulkowa. It is the first published instance of the fathom-line thrown into celestial space.Bessel communicated his observations in Comptes Rendus in a letter to Humboldt the offered paper dated Nov. 5 1838 in "Monthly Notices" in letter to J. Herschel and in "Astronomische Nachrichten" Vol. 16 No 365-66 pp. 65-96 1838 where a more detail account was published.Ther paper "Bestimmung der Entfernung des 61sten Stern des Schwans" in "Astronomische Nachrichten" is dated at the end: Altona 1838 Dec. 13.Bessel's investigation was hailed by John Herschel when Bessel was awarded the R.A.S. gold medal "The greatest and most glorious triumph which practical astronomy has ever witnessed". "For determining the parallax of 61 Cygni Bessel selected two comparison stars of magnitude 9-10 at distances of roughly eight and twelve minutes of arc. 61 Cygni is a physical double star whose components differ in brightness by less than one magnitude. The distance of sixteen seconds of arc between the components favored the accuracy of the determination of the parallax because pointing could be carried out with two star images. After observing for eighteen months by the fall of 1838 Bessel had enough measurements for the determination of a reliable parallax. He found that p = 0.314 with a mean error of ±:0.020. This work was published in the Astronomische Nachrichten 1838 the first time the distance of a star became known. Bessel’s value for the parallax shows excellent agreement with the results obtained by extensive modern photographical parallax determinations." Original 135 page revised final draft shooting script with pink green yellow blue salmon and goldenrod color rewrite pages dated December 2 1975 to February 17 1976 for the film A Star is Born by Joan Didion John Gregory Dunne and Frank Pierson. Bradbound in printed studio covers. About fine copy with a bit of handling to the covers. The film is a remake of the 1937 original with Janet Gaynor and Frederic March notably adapted in 1954 as a musical starring Judy Garland and James Mason and subsequently again in 2018 with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. This version was directed by Frank Pierson and stars Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in the leading roles as an unknown singer Streisand and an established rock star Kristofferson who fall in love only to find her career ascending while his goes into decline. The film premiered at the Mann Village Theater on December 18 1976 with a wide release by Warner Bros. the following day. This is by far Joan Didion’s most successful screenplay grossing $80 million on a $6 million budget in North America with the film becoming the 2nd highest grossing film that year. Reviews praised its performances and musical score but unfortunately criticized the screenplay and runtime. At the 49th Academy Awards the film won Best Original Song for Evergreen music by Barbra Streisand and lyrics by Paul Williams. It also received 3 Oscar nominations for Best Cinematography Best sound and Best Music Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Best Adaptation Score. Warner Bros unknown
