Miniature book 48 x 48 mm 1¾ x 1¾ inches cover size tiny coloured photograph of Struwwelpeter doll mounted on frontispiece 6 handcoloured illustrations of Struwwelpeter of which 4 are on the pastedowns and endpapers 1 is a repeat 16 pages including colophon and title page. Bound in the original publisher's dark green leatherette with mounted hand-coloured circular label on upper cover. In orange thin card slipcase with shaped hand-coloured illustrated label stating Der Winzige Struwwelpeter. A Fine unused copy in Fine crisp clean slipcase. The text of each page is printed in a different direction so that as the book is read it has to be turned "in a somersault". Some German text but mainly in English. Essay on and history of the Heinrich Hoffmann character Struwwelpeter. Robert E. Massmann is an author librarian and publisher of miniature books under his imprint REM Miniatures. Judged to be one of the smallest complete bibles ever produced. The title bears the words "Printed by Authority"; and on verso is a copy of the licence granted to Nimmo Hay & Mitchell Ltd. to publish this edition. Printed upon the very thinnest Oxford India Paper. With twenty-eight illustrations by C. B. Birch A.R.A." pp.674. The exact size of the page is 42mm x 28mm. A magnifying glass is supplied in a pocket to the verso of the front cover. Similar to Herbert:2064 / D&M: 1306. This copy is bound in contemporary tan calf with intricate blind-stamped decoration and the gilt title:"Holy Bible" to the spine. Inscription to front endpaper. Separate half-title to New Testament followed by "Shakespeare Family Records". Booksellers label to rear endpaper: "William J. Hay. Antiquarian & Bookseller. Bought At Knox's House In The High Street Edinburgh." Clean pages and text throughout with creased corners. VG. Bound in the original publisher's dark green fine grained blind stamped cloth decorative gilt frame to upper cover containing gilt title gilt decoration to spine with gilt title all edges gilt pale yellow endpapers. A touch of fading to spine gilt bright a little pale brown spotting on the margin or blank background of 3 plates pages 37 109 117 - see image very occasional very small pale spot on text or text margins no loss of legibility otherwise a very good plus tight copy.
