19435255Camrose AB: Longbell's Studio 1943. Loose Photograph. Fine. A silver gelatin photomontage documenting the 60 men and 1 woman Sgt. Foxe M.S. comprising the 1943 Sergeants Mess of the "131 C.A. B. T.C.-C.A." No. 131 Canadian Army Basic Training Centre – Camrose Alberta located just south of a wartime Edmonton. The print measures 8 x 11.25 inches wide and has all member's names and ranks as well the photographer's credit "by Longbell's Studio" near the title. A fine image with Master Sergeant Foxe outnumbered 60 to 1 by her male compatroits. Longbell's Studio unknown

On rear are 6 more cards with addresses postmarks and messages exposed. Backerboard is a bit cracked on this side and the cards are sliding around. A more secure form of permanent display will be needed. <br/><br/>One photo is of nine young men. The other photos are of various members of the group usually in cowboy or hunting attire. However we think they're playing dress-up not real cowboys since they're seated on barrels holding rifles in front of a painted backfrop of a log cabin and wilderness lake. unknown

19207923Thomaston GA: Trice - photographer 1920. Very good . One photograph measuring about 9.5" x 7.5" housed in a contemporary mat and somewhat later frame. The photograph is in excellent condition though it has come slightly loosened from the mat. We have not endeavored to open the back of the frame to either fix or examine it. In the center of the image is a large passenger railcar with the locomotive in the background if any identifying markings are present we cannot read them. Posing in front is a group of nearly two dozen businessmen in suits all posing next to a sign reading "Goodrich Silvertowns" which were a popular white wall tire during the 1910s and 1920s which would seem to date this photograph. The photograph is credited on the bottom right corner to Trice Studio in Thomaston GA which is likely the general area in which the photograph was taken. Though slightly mysterious a nicely-sized photograph of a train taken in the rural south. [Trice - photographer] unknown

With 48 plates eight original parts loose within original portfolio boards. Boards worn and slightly marked with loss to the top board's top-right corner. Each part in grey printed paper wrappers and containing an introduction on a particular medium including wood-engraving lithography water-colouring etc. followed by six tipped-in plates. Plates include original etchings and engravings and reproductions of water-colours and oils. Gray paper wrappings have some wear to edges but are internally clean. Illustrations including lithographs and etchings by Frank Brangwyn Henri Riviere A. Lepere D. Y. Cameron. This is a heavy item and may require additional postage if being shipped outside of Europe. . Short one-page introduction of the history and various amenities and recreations available to prospective visitors to the famed Manitoba-based National Park. Chiefly comprised of many period black-and-white photogravures of the various landmarks lakes beaches accommodations lodges hotels etc government buildings the local R.C.M.P. detachment and much else. Remarkably well-preserved and entirely without blemish to the extremities or contents. Near fine. <br/><br/>Rare in commerce. Unrecorded in OCLC. Not in Peel BAC/LAC University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections et al at time of cataloguing. Nominally corresponds to OCLC #190825930 however with a different publisher and printer. The film starred Angie Dickinson John Wayne Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson with Howard Hawks as director and Leigh Brackett and Jules Furthman as screen writers. The film was shot on location in Arizona. Texas Sheriff John Chance arrests Joe Burdette for murder. Joe’s powerful and wealthy brother Nathan gathers hired guns and surrounds the town determined to free him. Subsequently Sheriff Chance must fend off the gang with the help of a young gunfighter a disabled man and the town drunk. Alongside the action Sheriff Chance develops a romantic relationship with Feathers played by Angie Dickinson a sharp-witted gambler. One of the most entertaining Western films ever made from the standpoint of cinematography dialogue story economy direction and acting. The basis for the film is the book "Rio Bravo" written by Leigh Brackett and published as a paperback original in 1959 by Bantam Books.
