197270622sNew York: Crown Publishers Inc. 1972. First Edition. Octavo grey cloth hardcover gilt letters xii 209 pp. Very Good with foxing age darkened spotting to endpapers and page edges in a like dust jacket. “.One of the most incredible suspense-filled tales of wilderness survival ever written. It is the amazing true story of an indomitable woman whose triumph over the dangers of Canada’s North Country are matched only by her fierce love for this beautiful and terrifying land.As a story of extaordinary adventure The Silence of the North is unequaled. But it is remarkable also in its elevating depiction of the sympathetic bond that exists not only between man and animal and amn and the earth but among all who confront nature unleashed and natural law at its most elemental.†Crown Publishers, Inc., [1972]. 196322066Nice: Self-Published 1963. First edition. Loose Sheets. Very Good. Rare collection of collages editions texts and multiples in printed folder. Created between 1962 and 1963 an early and scarce offering by Vautier sometimes just known as "Ben". Loose pages laid into folder. This copy retains only a small fragment of the 45 rpm record that was part of the edition. Edition size unknown. SIGNED by the artist on a card laid in at rear. This copy has also been hand-addressed by Vautier and mailed to fellow Fluxus artist Jackson Mac Low. Comparing this copy to the one held at Fondazione Bonotto it should be noted that there are several difference. Their copy has sheets not in this example and vice-versa. In fact given the ephemeral nature of this collection of objects it seems likely that there will be some differences in content between any two copies. Sold as-is. Quite rare and early offering from Vautier.

Self-Published unknown books
1927WB15106New York: John Day Company 1927. First Edition thus. Hardcover. Very Good. Warmly inscribed by John Steinbeck on verso of half-title page: "John Steinbeck to his estimable elegant and virtuous friend Toby Street this tome presents". Webster "Toby" Street was a college pal and the two remained close friends for many years with their letters collected. Steinbeck's early effort "To a God Unknown" is indebted to a play abandoned by Street; Steinbeck names a drink after Street in Sweet Thursday. Original cloth a bit worn but hard to find flaws with such an outstanding association copy.

John Day Company hardcover books
