Some browning to covers with a few marks. Couple of corners bumped with very tiny amount of chipping and fraying to cloth on a couple. Light foxing/browning to endpapers outer page edges and a few to contents. A few plates have grubby margin marks with one plate having a little edge-chipping and a closed edge tear though it doesn't affect picture. Still a lovely copy of this book. Reduced from £400. Orig. red decorated cloth with gilt title and tipped on color illustration. Spine a little sunned and the gilt a trifle oxidized but very nice overall. Text is supremely clean crisp & tight. Muir 5602 for this famous children's book whose illustrations of fairies mermaids kookaburras frogs koalas lizards & brownies draw inspiration from the Australian wildlife of Outhwaite's youth.
