First edition inscribed of this unashamedly Eurocentric voyages and exploration history detailing “all the great adventurers by land and sea from Hannu 2750 B.C. to Piccard 1935.†The specially prepared maps specifically show the ground and oceans covered by each explorer with the contemporary “Known World†starkly defined. The maps and histories sequentially “unroll†from the very small area around the Mediterranean to the World. Outhwaite 1892-1979 was an anthropologist who worked on American race relations at the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Memorial from 1923-1028 worked for the Rockefeller Foundation through the 1930’s and organized “Outhwaite Exhibits†for museums World’s Fairs and window displays. 191624959Melbourne: Lothian 1916. Print. Very good overall. Two plates from Outhwaite's masterpiece "Elves and Fairies" printed in a limited edition of 1500 copies. The work contained 15 tipped-in color plates and 30 tipped-in black & white plates. The images are printed in densely black ink on matte finish coated heavy paper stock. On the verso there is a slim adhesive line at the top where it would have been hinged onto the page. The two image both have small margins as issued and are untrimmed. <br /> <br /> "Wind in the Ti-Tree" would face p.13 6 1/8 x 10" and "The First of the Fairies The English Snowdrop" would face p. 87 7 x 9 3/8". The Ti Tree image has a small corner fold that has broken the densely blackness with a slim white line. Lothian unknown
