The installation by Joseph Kosuth in June 2007, was inspired by the historic character of the island of San Lazzaro in the lagoon of Venice. On this island centuries ago a monastery was established and over time the library in this place became well known. This part of the island was a sanctuary for Armenians and became known as 'Little Armenia'. Joseph Kosuth's installation consists of a series of long inscriptions in yellow neon that extend across the whole surface of the church. The inscriptions are in Italian, English and Armenian.
