Fue un importante hombre de letras y de la historia de la ciudad de Trinidad Cuba siendo historiador oficial de la misma. Su libro <em>Historia de Trinidad</em> 1945 constituye una obra de obligada consulta para los estudiosos de la historia de Trinidad y los poblados cercanos a ella.Como periodista abogó por el establecimiento del ferrocarril promovió la construcción de la carretera con Sancti Spíritus y luchó por el establecimiento de un centro escolar. Al ser seleccionado para este último fin el viejo edificio de la iglesia y convento de San Francisco con el apoyo del doctor Rafael Rodríguez Altunaga promovió ante el Secretario de Obras Públicas Carlos Miguel de Céspedes que la torre de dicha iglesia fuera salvada e incorporada al plan del nuevo edificio Marín tuvo acceso a las Actas capitulares fuente fundamental de su obra cuyas primicias dio a conocer en el folleto <em>Apuntes históricos y tradiciones</em> así como en la compilación de datos que entregara a los redactores del <em>Magazine La Lucha</em> para la edición del número dedicado a la provincia de Las Villas. Su obra representa el primer acercamiento sistemático al pasado trinitario y por tanto tiene el enorme mérito de los iniciadores.
