The Wimbledon and Sutton Railway Company Ltd., incorporated in law by the present Act, continued in operation from 1910 to 1925. When, in 1923, the Southern Railway Company was formed by merging the five major southern lines (and several smaller operators), the Wimbledon & Sutton fought to stay apart. It was one of the last to remain independent before its inevitable absorption in 1925. VERY SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION. Not in Ottley.

10 parts in one, some spotting and staining of the first 40pp., 16, 160 pp., contemporary calf-backed marbled boards, spine rubbed. The first part is signed "George Edmonds. Tuesday, February 23, 1819". The series of "Letters" numbered II-X are on political reform in local government. Letters II-IV are printed and published by Osborne, letters V-X were printed by T. Bloomer, High Street, Birmingham. They are however paginated continuously, they were probably issued with the "Address to the Payers of Levies."
First and only edition, [2], vi, 37,[1] + 2pp., of adverts, orig. printed blue boards with white paper spine, the spine is worn with some loss to the original cover at base, some brown damp staining to lower inner margins which correspond with the damage to base of spine, partly unopened, uncut. A good acceptable example of this very rare work which was bought out to accompany Henry Price's New Map of the County of Hereford which is advertised at the rear of the book. Copac listing a single copy at Cardiff University Libraries.

8vo., Best Edition, with a frontispiece and 15 plates, some moderate offsetting from fold-ins to free endpapers; red cloth, gilt back, a very good, bright, clean copy in dustwrapper, the latter lightly frayed and creased at edges. First published in 1937, 'Kent' is the most detailed single-volume encyclopaedia of London and an invaluable period guide to places, institutions and infrastructure. This substantially revised edition was produced to coincide with the Festival of Britain, albeit that the major South Bank site (frontispiece) was still under construction. It also includes coverage of wartime depredations. Later editions suffered from the usual economies of scale and production. A very nice copy and uncommon in this condition.
