She has twice been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal - for 'Ghosts' later turned into the popular film 'The Amazing Mr Blunden' and 'The Ring in the Rough Stuff'. <br />Patrick James Lynch born 2 March 1962 Belfast grew up in 'The Troubles' known professionally as P. J. Lynch is an Irish artist and illustrator of children's books. Attended Brighton College of Art and on leaving in 1984 he began working on children's books. His first illustrated book Alan Garner's 'A Bag of Moonshine' - a collection of folklore tales from England and Wales - won him the 1987 Mother Goose Award. Since then folklore - traditional stories legends and fairy tales - has been a recurring subject of his work. He has also won the Kate Greenaway Medal for 1995 and 1997. 'The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey' by Susan Wojciechowski published by Walker Books in 1995 proved to be very popular in the US with sales in excess of 1 million copies. It also won the Christopher Medal and a movie based on the book was released in 2007. He won his second Greenaway Medal two years later for illustrating 'When Jessie Came Across the Sea' by Amy Hest London Walker Books 1997. As well as a children's book illustrator J. P. Lynch has created posters for both Opera Ireland and the Abbey Theatre Dublin. He has also illustrated four sets of Christmas stampsas well as other individual stamps.
