Seven menus from a 1931 voyage of the SS Yukon printed on cardstock and illustrated with black & white photographs and the "Alaska LIne" logo on the verso; one large black & white photograph on the recto mostly of Alaskan scenery but including one photograph of the SS Yukon. Slight yellowing and rubbing to edges. The ocean liner SS Yukon built in 1899 joined the Alaska Steamship Co. fleet in 1924 and remained in service until 1946 when she was wrecked off the Alaskan coast with the loss of eleven lives. Along with the 72 oz. steak dinner customers could order Chicken Casserole Broiled Lobster Tail Hawaiian Chop Steak Japanese Shrimp Tempura a whole fresh Pineapple Ranch House Style with their famed breadsticks and cheese sauce. As per the image on the front cover this appears to have been issued after the restaurant was renovated moved to the middle of the property with a parking lot and updated with red brick and wood facade from the original white wooden siding. Although undated this menu includes mention of his popular “Clam Digger Room†cocktail lounge as well as his short-lived “Sravi†gift store opened in 1961 just prior to the opening of the 1962 Century 21 Seattle World’s Fair. Specialties included the beloved clam chowder Dungeness Crab Louie whole cracked crabs and even Wente Bros. and B.V. California wines for purchase. Advice on transportation is detailed on the trains and electric railways and ferries leaving East Bay to San Francisco along with detailed instructions on where to eat at the Exposition. One of the favorite recommendations was the Yellowstone Park Concession which served a la carte meals at Railroad prices such as the Old Faithful Inn and featured an 80 piece orchestra.
