Strong contrasts. "From our viewpoint we are looking northward toward the capitol whose dome you see silhouetted against the horizon at the right. This building was completed in 1915 at a cost of $2000000. At the left in the background you can see a part of rounded Ensign Peak so named because it was here the American flag was first raised on Mexican soil. This territory was not ceded to the United States until 1848. Temple Square the area in the foreground is a ten-acre tract which contains the famous Mormon Temple the Tabernacle and the Assembly Hall. The Temple is the massive granite structure at the right.
