Tenth Edition styled 'Ninth Edition' on title on laid paper free endpapers mildly browned title very lightly dust-soiled some mild and inoffensive age-staining principally at fore-margins and edges; nineteenth century cloth boards tan calf back with flat gilt bands second compartment with red leather label ruled and lettered in gilt worn but wholly legible BY BIRDSALL OF NORTHAMPTON uncut sometime neatly recased with new endpapers to style a remarkably bright crisp copy. The bnding is signed on front paste-down. Charlotte Mason's important collection was first published in 1773. Maclean records a further seven eighteenth-century editions; Bitting adds a Dublin imprint of 1778 as a result of which subsequent copies are one edition later than that stated hence that with 'eighth edition' on title in actually the ninth Cagle 864 and the present issue styled 'ninth edition' is actually the tenth see Cagle pp. 621-3. The present edition retains the introduction to the first edition the advertisement to the sixth edition and the appendix on poultry the dairy the kitchen and fruit gardens. Condition is VERY GOOD ; covers extremely clean and bright with no wear at corners or spine ends. Spine is very mildly toned with the red title rectangle just a little paler than the front. Spine ends only mildly bumped. Binding tight. The text is extremely clean with the exception being a few minor spots to the right text edge and a few small spots on one pg of the index at back with a matching tiny spot at the edge of the blue rear pastedown. From that most erudite of malt sites Whiskipedia: "MacDonald's 'Whisky' is today regarded as perhaps the earliest modern book on whisky and certainly the first to treat the subject from the point of view of the drinker. It provides a passionate and energetic defence of the interests of the consumer against the producers and well ahead of its time promotes single malt whisky over blends." She was a Mexican cook researcher writer and teacher. as well as a pioneer of Mexican gastronomy and an entrepreneur of Mexican cuisine. One of the most well-recognized and prolific of all Mexican cookbook authors she had more than one hundred forty books to her name. The subtitle says it all my translation a "selection of authentic recipes from the regional cuisine of Chihuahua compiled by a group of ladies and gentlemen from the Marian Congregation Established by the Jesuit Fathers of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the City of Chihuahua. Augmented with a series of modern recipes that can be made with the good products of the region." Sections include Cocina Frutas Dulces Reposteria Varios and Recetas de cocina y reposteria moderna.
