With most sewn from durable and long wearing cotton duck cloth the company presents here multiple service ensembles for kitchen staff dining rooms and taverns many with decidedly Art Deco lines and patterns. The company originated in 1878 when Carmine Ostari Angelica 1850-1883 created an entirely new cook’s uniform for her husband Cherubino Angelica d. 1898 while cooking for the railroad based out of St. Louis MO. Featuring a tall white hat with a crown double-breasted white coat cloth buttons sewn to the sides and reversible layers of cloth to protect from heat and grease splatter and even cuffs which could be turned down to function as hot pads. Within a couple years Cherubino with Carmine supplying the uniforms founded the Angelica Corporation and after her death his second wife Therese Hirsch del Angelica b. 1855 would join the company and oversaw the introduction of the iconic Harvey Girls uniforms. After Levy and his brother purchased the business and the sewing machines in 1903 the company quickly expanded to dominate the service uniform market and still is one of the primary suppliers of uniforms across the country. The 'Journal' volume is a softcover, and the smallest volume 'Snap Shots' is also a hardcover. All three books document the process of thinking up interesting recipes and trying them out. Noma is a three-Michelin-star restaurant run by chef René Redzepi in Copenhagen, Denmark. Illustrated with color photographs and black & white drawings. Lalanne stated that "great cuisine cannot be served without wine.'In 1908 the owners of the Poodle Dog the Old Poodle Dog John Bergez Restaurant and Frank's Rotisserie merged their businesses opening Bush Street and Claude Lane under Lalanne with partners Jean B. Pon Jean Bergez Louis Coutard and Camille Mailhebeau. The restaurant now boasted five floors; the top floor offered a ballroom. A side door mimicked the earlier establishment with a birdcage elevator that took the men and their "companions" upstairs. They brought the elegance of the Nineties back to San Francisco as the Bergez-Franks Old Poodle Dog. The cuisine reflected the skills of some of the finest French chefs in the city but also included innovations unique to San Francisco. Spray painted upper wrapper in red green orange and black paint small newspaper clipping advertising Milligan's is glued to the tail of the upper wrapper. Folio 13-3/4" x 9-1/2" <br/><br/>According to San Francisco City Directories Milligan's operated at two locations from 1922 - 1939. From 1922 - 1930 it was located at 395 Geary Blvd. Geary and 4th Ave. There is no listing in the City Directory for the year 1931 as they changed locations. In 1932 they reopened at 3701 Geary Blvd. Geary and Arguello and they closed their doors in 1939. This menu is from the second location at Geary and Arguello a.k.a. First Ave. The top of the menu reads: "In the preparation of these Mexican and Spanish Dishes mild sweet pepper flavors are carefully blended with the several pugent spices commonly used in Mexico. These dishes are not hot with peppers and to please those who desire strong pepper flavors we have prepared our 'Old Mexico pepper Sauce' which will be served with your order. Being proud of San Francisco and its history we pay homage to the romance of its early days by selecting only the finest recipes from Mexico's most famous haciendas. Lincecum located at 694 McAllister Street. Mount verso with prior owner pencil annotations naming the 5 individuals behind the counter including Lincecum's wife Adell as well as dating the image Jan 5 - 12. An examination of period San Francisco business directories shows Lincecum's restaurant first appearing in 1910 albeit at another location 459 Franklin no entry in 1911 at this location in 1912 and absent once again from the 1914 as well as 1916 editions. A search of Ancestry shows a Joseph S. Lincecum born in New Brownsville TX in 1866 dying in Deming NM in 1919 who we believe may be this individual though we are unable to independently confirm that supposition. unknown books
