Gutes Ex. - Die Arbeit behandelt eines der schwierigsten Themen der neueren Kunstgeschichte: die Seerosenbilder Claude Monets. Die Nympheas, die Blumen, die in seinem selbstangelegten Teich in Giverny wuchsen, sind das Hauptthema der letzten 30 Jahre seines Schaffens und ein letzter Höhepunkt seines Werkes. Der Zugang jedoch zu diesen Bildern blieb bisher problematisch, dies zeigt auch die geringe Zahl der kunstgeschichtlichen Veröffentlichungen zum Thema. Die Schwierigkeiten bei der Annäherung liegen nicht nur im Seriencharakter der Bilder begründet, sondern in ihrer Ambivalenz : Form läßt sich nicht von Farbe trennen, Farbe nicht von Licht - es ist ein Gegenstand da, und doch entsteht Gehalt erst durch die Darstellungsweise. Die menschliche Wahrnehmung selbst wird hier thematisiert und zugleich problematisiert und mit ihr das Verständnis der Zeit von Wirklichkeit, die Dynamisierung der Weltvorstellungen. Ideelle Beziehungen bestehen zu anderen Kunstströmungen der Zeit, zu Symbolismus, Jugendstil, Vitalismus und anderen. In dieser Untersuchung nun gelingt es, ausgehend von einer konkreten Bildanalyse, den Nympheas völlig neue, weiterführende Aspekte abzugewinnen und Zusammenhänge aufzuzeigen, die für die Beurteilung der klassischen Moderne zentral sind. La galeriste venait d'acquérir auprès de Michel Monet toute une série de nymphéas qui demeuraient dans l'atelier de Giverny. Dans ce rare recueil elle exprime en poésie l'émerveillement que lui inspire chacune de ces toiles. Tirage limité à 400 exemplaires, celui-ci sur Offset avec un joli envoi à une artiste : "Pour Olympe Silvy, beau peintre de la grande lignée provençale, en souvenir d'une exposition qui m'a donné une grande satisfaction, Affectueusement, K. Granoff, Paris, 1961".
