The artist's signature appears in the stone in the lower right hand side with the date of the original work.<br/><br/> Deep tones of blue create an illuminated night scene with a full moon hanging low in the sky. The abstracted profiles of a man and woman in the left appear intimate with the woman's arms wrapped around a bouquet of bright flowers. A bowl of fruit appears as though floating in the water behind it with tiny boats and the edge of land in the distance. Created in 1952 for a solo show at the Ponchettes Gallery in Nice France. Printed by Mourlot Paris this work was a collaboration between Charles Sorlier and Marc Chagall. Based on an interpretation from a gouache dating to 1949.<br/><br/> unknown books
