Original autograph letter signed by surrealist artist Joan Miro written on both sides of a single sheet of his personal 8 1/2†x 11†stationery printed “Son Abrines - Calamayor - Palma de Mallorca†at the upper right. Written by Miro in blue fountain pen in French translated in part: “November 3 ‘51 Dear friend I was afraid that you would have difficulties getting hold of my canvasses because you must understand that for the past year my output has been extremely limited. I absolutely had to exhibit the ‘Tronc d’arbre’ Tree Trunk which I consider to be a very important piece; apart from that Andre Breton has to repair it so as to conserve it better. Would you be so kind as to ask the press to send me as quickly as they can some “papier a report†for the lithography which I will engrave immediately. I live in the country and it is hard for me to get hold of the necessary material. After so many years I can’t find a text for ‘le Piege’ the Trap. These texts. My very best wishes Miroâ€. Fine condition. Spanish painter sculptor and ceramist Joan Miro 1893 - 1983 was one of the best known artists of the Surrealism movement which began in the early 1920s. One of its leaders was the French writer poet and anti-fascist Andre Breton to whom Miro refers in his letter. unknown books

Folded for mailing with some light wear and toning mostly along the margins; otherwise very good. Promotional material for The Nuns' show on June 18 1977 at the Rio Theater in Rodeo California paired with a letter from Jennifer Miro that reads "Dear Mr. Elwood Thankyou sic for your kind words. By the way I am the blonde young lady at the keyboards. Very Truly Yours Jennifer Miro of The Nuns". Philip Elwood was the influential music critic for the San Francisco Examiner. Formed in 1975 The Nuns were one of the founding acts of the early San Francisco punk scene. Jennifer Miro joined the band in 1976 as vocalist and keyboardist and she vocalist Jeff Olener and guitarist Alejandro Escovedo formed the group's core. By 1977 The Nuns had created a worldwide buzz and a year later opened for the Sex Pistols at San Francisco's Winterland. The band split up in 1979 though there have been several later reunions. From the promotional material: "The Nuns are part of the new wave of punk rock phenomenon that is taking the country by storm. Parents have wondered for years what new leap into degeneracy their children would take and now the answer is here: Punk Rock!
