196115330East Grinstead Sussex England: New Knowledge Books 1961. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. First of this edition 1961. A beautiful copy of this edition very good in good illustrated dust jacket with minor chipping. First 3 stanzas in both Norwegian and English. This edition contains the full poem the music of the ancient Norwegian meolodies; 13 full colour plates tipped in from water colour paintings by Eleanor C. Merry. Also notes on the music and the singing of the "Dream Song" by Benedict Wood. The Dream Song of Olaf Asteson is a folksong which only came to light in 1850 when a clergyman called Landstad heard it in a lonely valley of Telemark Norway. No one knows how long it has existed but it's an epic narrative telling the story of a young man who slept for twelve nights in the depths of winter then awoke to share the wondrous sights he had seen. Steiner noted that it was known to seers that vision penetrates most deeply during this period of the Thirteen Hold Nights. New Knowledge Books hardcover
