Leather spine and corners over marbled paper-covered boards five raised bands to spine compartments stamped in gilt top edge gilt marbled endpapers 14.5" x 10.5" 45 plates including title page & text facsimile. Very strong binding pleasant exterior; some foxing to plates--mostly quite minor larger but still light in color on the margins of the last several plates. The first book printed by lithography in England; each plate of design is one color--black green purple red brown etc. Text page and title page are in red & black. A nice copy of a beautiful book which also has its place in the history of printing.</p> R. Ackermann's Lithographic Press hardcover

"Attempts had been made earlier at lithography as witness Forbes's Oriental Memoirs' which contain a few specimens engraved in 1811 but this book is the first serious attempt to popularize the new method.
