17083239n. p. n. p. Limited Edition. No binding. Near Fine. Gill Eric. No. 39 of 50 numbered in pencil by Eric Gill. Lovely engraving on copper of Moira Gibbings by the inimitable Eric Gill 1882-1940 signed in the plate by Gill and numbered 39 of 50 in Gill's hand. Robert Gibbings took over the Golden Cockerel Press in 1924 and Gill supplied illustrations for the Press's major works "Canterbury Tales" and "Four Gospels" during Gibbings's tenure; the Gibbings were personal friends of Gill's as well. The engraving has a gentleness to it; the simple and understated line work form the beautiful detail of the portrait.

___DESCRIPTION: Cream laid paper watermarked "Hand Made" printed in black with a heavy block imprint; leaf 13" by 10" engraving 6.75" by 4.5".

___CONDITION: Near fine with only slight crimping to corners and edges from handling.

___CITATION: Skelton P296.

___POSTAGE: International customers please note that additional postage may apply as the standard shipping charge does not always cover costs; please inquire for details.

___Swan's Fine Books is pleased to be a member of the ABAA ILAB and IOBA and we stand behind book we sell.
