This issue includes articles promoting the wintery landscape and winter sports of the area of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Bavarian Alps where the then recent 1936 Winter Olympics were held as well as the 20th anniversary of the German railway catering company Mitropa the anniversary of the death of English-German racial philosopher Houston Stewart Chamberlain and articles on the Carnival celebrations in the country. Include images taken by infamous Nazi photographer and publisher Heinrich Hoffmann. Striking art deco front cover design by German designer Ottomar Anton back cover by Edwin Henel.<br /> <br /> Wrappers with light foxing to the front cover and moderate foxing the back cover. Overall a good but fragile copy. A scarce late Republic-period issue of an illustrated newspaper in Ottoman Turkish featuring an attractive illustrated cover depicting the collision of the French steamer SS Lotus and the Turkish steamer SS Bozkurt on 2 August 1926 north of Mytilene in the Aegean Archipelago. The issue includes a brief and early account of the case based on the estimates and descriptions of experts in court. The cover illustration is reproduced from an original watercolor created exclusively for this newspaper by Ottoman painter Ali Cemal Benim 1881-1939. Ali Cemal Benim graduated from the Naval Academy in 1901 and the Fine Arts Academy in 1903. He painted in still lifes landscapes and battle scenes at the Sisli Painting Studio Sisli Atölyesi which was founded by then Minister of War Enver Pasha for the Vienna and Berlin Exhibitions in 1917. Ali Cemal who participated in the 1918 Vienna Exhibition and also created wall paintings and posters later pursued a career in journalism working as an illustrator for various newspapers and magazines. The 20th issue of the scarce Singaporean avant-garde art and photography periodical. The series was published semi-annually starting in 2000 under the direction of acclaim graphic designer Theseus Chan and continuing until the present. This issues examines the design of the previously released issues of the magazine and explores themes relating to printed materials. Each issue was printed in a limited run of only 800 to 1000 copies. The magazine won a D&AD Wood Pencil Award in 2013. In fine condition and protected in modern mylar. Work unknown

An extraordinarily beautiful sales catalogue organized around vivid colors as the title suggests. Folio 33 by 25 cm. xxx 30 2 pp. plus wraps. The colors are "Bird of Paradise" "Midnight Blue" "Angel Fish" "Morpho Menelans" emerald curite "Forest Green" "Th Grand Canyon" "Rose Coral" "Italian Waters" "Orchid" "Autumn" and the cars are all Cadillacs. All the cars have in fact two colors both of which are suggested by the color designation and each color and car receives a luxuriant two-page spread with three color illustrations: one for the inspiration for the particular color one of the car interior and one for the outer body. Accompanying the illustrations are fluid intoxicating descriptions that conjure up the imagery the sensate experience the fantasy with only passing mentions of some of the design specifics. The cars include Cabriolets a Roadster a Phaeton Imperials a Brougham a Town Sedan and a Convertible Coupe. One can see designs that both reach back to the fine coaches of a quickly receding era and the more comfortable sleeker cars to come. The brochure was released in conjunction with a road show showcase of the vehicles staged at fine hotels in New York Chicago Los Angeles and San Francisco the Commodore the Drake the Biltmore and the Palace respectively. Wear to the edges of the dust jacket the decorative paper covering the bound card-stock wrap0 with a few scratch lines on front soiling on rear and a few minor closed tears along edges. A hole to the white front fold-in of this jacket. Other than some light pencilled lettering a child's hand clean and bright within.
