A catalog of the first "young art" exhibition at the gallery of the Belgrade Youth Center Galerija Doma Omladine showcasing 60 works by 30 contemporary artists with design by Slobodan Mašić. A full-page original print by the Neo-constructivist sculptor and graphic artist Juraj Dobrović b. 1928 is laid into the catalog with nine additional reproductions of exhibited works pictured on the catalog pages. The exhibited artists represented a variety of contemporary artistic movements and practices including Informel Zoran Pavlović and Vladislav Todorović-Šilja Pop Art Radomir Reljić Ervin Hotko conceptualist work by Radomir Damnjanović-Damnjan and performance art by Bogdanka Poznanović. The work of the avant-garde graphic artist and painter Miroslav Šutej which appears on the first page of the catalog is currently held by MoMA.<br /> <br /> The designer of the volume Slobodan Mašić 1939-2016 is celebrated as one of the "most significant artists and publishers who shaped visual communications in Serbia and Yugoslavia over the past half century". In addition to designing posters and publications for the famous Belgrade Student Cultural Centre SKC Mašić also designed special issues of the new left student journal Susret 1968 collaborated with the avant-garde theatre Atelje 212 and the BITEF theatre festival. The exhibition "Mašić: Retrospective Exhibition of Visual Communication" was held in Belgrade in 2018 and in Paris in 2021. Black and white photographs diagrams throughout the Intrex catalogue with a few color samples. Binder with some residue and scuffing to outside contents clean. <br /> <br /> Substantial surviving archive of mid-century modern design material issued by Habitat Incorporated the New York furnishings and design company founded by architect and industrial designer Paul Mayén 1918-2000. Founded by Mayén Ca. 1953 Habitat and later Intrex became associated with the American modernist movement through its minimalist furnishings lighting and interior accessories regionally marketed to architects decorators and contractors. This particular binder is marked "Oregon 9-7075" on the first price sheet.<br /> <br /> Mayén studied at the Art Students League Cooper Union and Columbia University before teaching classes in advertising design. Mayén's lifelong partner Edgar Kaufmann Jr. inherited the Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater house which was commissioned by his father. Mayén oversaw the building of the pavilion there in 1979-81 designing the new gift shop and cafe.
