L'autore coglie inoltre l'occasione per anticipare gli effetti dello spaghetti-western sui western americani che porteranno all'affermazione di registi quali Sam Peckinpah e Monte Hellman, oltre al fenomeno del c.d. revisionismo western che ribalterà le relazioni cinematografiche tra cowboy/soldati e indiani.Il volume è corredato da un capitolo dedicato alle parodie western di Franco & Ciccio, e di un altro incentrato sulla figura della donna pistolero.
