It begins with the day the tanks broke through the British lines in Libya, followed by his long trek back to Benghazi, his journey across the Mediterranean to Italy and Germany, his solitary confinement in a Gestapo prision and his final days of the war in an Italian prison camp.

Published in the same year as the first edition. One of the few first-hand accounts of the administration by the British Army of its forces in the field during WWI. The author served successively with the 51st [Territorial] Division and the 17th [New Army] Division before taking up positions at Corps and General Headquarters levels.
