Scarce theological work by James Gray 1770-1824 a native of Ireland who graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1793 and immigrated to the United States in 1797. He was minister at the Associate Reformed Church in Philadelphia beginning in 1803. This work printed by Jane Aitken at No 71 North Third Street Philadelphia. Aitken 1764-1832 was an early American printer who came to America from Scotland in 1771. When her father died in 1802 she took over his printing and binding business. No marks in book binding tight. Covers show light edge wear both joints cracking but binding solid. Some chipping bottom half of spine. Book condition VG. Jane Aitken hardcover

A lifetime of humanitarian/relief works in Poland Russia Ireland Greece Palestine and Turkey in the aftermath of 2 world and 3 civil wars resulted in being awarded medals by Greece Romania Poland Serbia and Australia and in 1982 was made an MBE.
