Fair. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. xxviii 176pp. vii 72pp. Error in paging: page nos. xxv-xxviii repeated such that actual pages xxix-xxxii do not have the correct page number on them. After the first 32 pages of printed text there are no page numbers. This volume has been fully collated to assure that all called for text is present. Bound in full brown leather with gilt lettering to black label on spine. Covers are quite worn and back board is cracked over approximately 3" of upper joint. Some darkening in places to exterior. Text printed in 2 columns. To be clear no musical notation accompanies the text. The front paste-down and front free endpaper admit to very light pencil notes; else text is clean. Interior admits to some foxing and some darker browning where previous users had tucked in paper e.g. newspaper articles which are no longer present. A previous owner's info. in ink to front free endpaper. The first approximately 25 pages admit to a stain to upper approximately 1-1.5" of corners near fore-edges of pages. Quite a few pages admit to tiny tears at extremities with only a few extending into printed portion of page though there is no effect on the reading of the text. Several leaves admit to small chips or pieces missing thought with no effect on the reading of the text. Hinges cracked though binding remains firm. Approximately 50 pages towards the end of the volume admit to a small stain near gutter. While the volume admits to a bit of wear it still retains much of its original charm. Folio two-tone cloth unpaginated fine in publisher's slipcase <br/><br/>The text incorporates poems by David Ignatow Marge Piercy Harvey Shapiro Grace Paley David Meltzer Chana Bloch etc. This is a visionary livres d'artiste by Bernard Solomon. Among his remarkable woodblocks is a multi-block large fold-out print depicting his fantasy perfect Passover one in which he could invite anyone living or dead to partake. Curiously he is not in the scene but is shows Golda Meir and Anwar Sadat Gandhi and Elijah Lincoln and Martin Luther King Rabbi Hillel and Queen Victoria Maimonides and Betty Williams. There are 110 woodcuts in the text 10 smaller mounted folding plates and 9 larger mounted folding plates. This is copy no. 10 of the edition which is limited to only 50 copies signed by the artist Solomon. An absorbing presentation much of it bi-lingual of this timeless prayer. First 4 leaves edge torn taped in the gutters and stained this volume suffered water damage. Purplish stains in the text gradually disappearing by page 300. No mold found inside. Browning to the gutters. Several page tears at bottom and top in the gutters. Remains of the half title page pasted down onto a sheet of white paper and bound in before the title page.
