Agostino Tornielli 1543-1622 was a religious historian who eventually became master of the Society of Barnabites. His "Annales" first published 1609-10 were written as a prequel to Baroniuss massive 12 volume ecclesiastical history. Tornielli discusses historical events from the beginning of the world till the time of Jesus. His work was considered valuable for shining light on obscure areas of chronology geography and topography especially in relation to the books of the Jewish Testament. Louis Dupin states that "it is written in a simple and natural style with great sharpness." See Dupin Nouv. bibl. des auteurs eccles. Vol. XVII p. 58. This edition of 1756-57 contains an extensive commentary by Agostino Maria Negri. This is a heavy set; extra shipping costs will be necessary.
