Small bookplate of previous owner on front end-paper lending library date sheet on the inside of the rear cover withdrawal stamp from Kingston upon Hull City Libraries on darkened title-page small stamps on reverse of title-page and bound in library slip. The pamphlet is a response to the Gorham judgment of 1850 by the Privy Council whereby an Anglican vicar with views that infant baptism did not give full regeneration of the soul was reinstated as the vicar of Brampford Speke in Essex. This resulted in major protestations by many high-level clergy. The pamphlet replies to one of those protestations by the author's Archdeacon. There is an archival wheatpaste repair to a tear at the side of the front flap which is now visible only as a faint tiny line with some slight darkeneing to it. Leather is very soft and supple. 1971035938Pittsburgh PA: The Pittsburgh Theological Seminary 1971. Second Printing . Spiral Bound. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 123pp. In a spiral binding. Short creases several minor dings and a little wear in places at extremities of volume. Several leaves aren't square with the rest of the text though this defect is largely aesthetic with no effect on the reading of the text. Two of the "spirals" are broken and the covers admit to a couple of tears where they meet the spirals i.e. cone binding but again this has no bearing on the integrity of the binding or the reading of the text. No writing to interior. Volume rated as "fair" because of aforementioned aesthetic defect. Overall still a good clean user friendly copy.
