About fine poster with just a small spot of soiling. Overall a rare poster for one of Nirvana's final shows in excellent condition. This poster is for the third concert that Nirvana played on their European In Utero tour. One source writes "If there was a beginning of the end of Kurt Cobain's short life that final chapter most certainly began in February 1994" Guitar World. The European tour was abruptly cut short when Cobain overdosed on alcohol and Rohypnol on March 4th. On March 4th 1994 the European tour was cancelled after Cobain overdosed on alcohol and Rohypnol and he committed suicide a month later. Some highlights include the earliest mini-poster December 1988 which features the band as the third band on a three act bill and in the smallest-sized lettering a mini-poster for the band's January 1990 show at Hub Ballroom at the University of Washington which produced Charles Peterson's famous stage diving photo and according to rumors a ban on Nirvana ever playing again at a University of Washington venue a flyer and mini-poster for two shows during Nirvana's Nevermind tour in the fall of 1991 and three beautiful posters for the band's In Utero tour two of which feature the album's iconic winged figure. This collection features wonderful artistic variety all with a very DIY and grunge feel. Original white poster for December 9 1993 concert at Ak-Sar-Ben Stadium in Omaha Nebraska featuring the winged anatomical model from Nirvana's "In Utero" album printed in black with special guests The Breeders and Shonen Knife. Fine. Overall a clean and beautiful concert poster. Nirvana performed at Ak-Sar-Ben Stadium as part of their U.S. tour for "In Utero" their third and final studio album which was released on Sept. 21st 1993. Interestingly this show took place five days after Frank Zappa passed away and the band dedicated a performance of "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam" to him. Less than a month before the show the band recorded their now legendary live concert on MTV Unplugged Nov. 18. 158532Deinze Belgium: Vooruit 1991. Vintage tour poster for a performance by Nirvana at the Vooruit in Gent Belgium on November 23 1991. The performance was held only two months after the release of the band's landmark album "Nevermind" and featured Hole as the supporting act.<br /> <br /> In 1991 Nirvana signed with DGC Records and released their second studio album "Nevermind." The release catapulted the band into international fame and is credited with bringing the grunge movement a mainstay of 1990s popular music to a mainstream audience. <br /> <br /> The November 23 concert at Vooruit was the only performance on the band's tour to feature Hole as the supporting act with the band Shonen Knife being the supporting act through the majority of the tour. Hole's frontwoman Courtney Love would marry Nirvana's lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain the following year in 1992.<br /> <br /> 26.25 x 37.75 inches. Near Fine. Vooruit unknown
NIRV0101991. 12 ½" x 12 ½". Signed and inscribed by Nirvana Art Director Robert Fisher in silver marker on the rear of the album. About fine with corners very lightly nicked and a touch of creasing to right edge of rear of album. Overall a very unique piece of Nirvana memorabilia. This copy of the "Nevermind" record album is inscribed by the band's art director Robert Fisher who oversaw the art and design for all of Nirvana's Geffen releases including "Nevermind" "Incesticide" "In Utero" and "MTV Unplugged in New York." In his inscription he tells the origin of the iconic "Nevermind" album cover in his own words - how Cobain wanted the cover to be a picture of a baby being born underwater and from that starting point the band and Fisher collaboratively came up with the image of a baby underwater looking at a dollar bill on a hook. Fisher is careful in his inscription to note his own contributions to the final image - for example mentioning that it was he who found a photo of a baby in a pool that the band loved and based the final image on - which is particularly interesting given the recent legal battles that have come about involving Fisher and his role both in the creation of the cover of the "Nevermind" album and the iconic Nirvana smiley face logo. Inscription: "I was working at Geffen and heard / they were to sign Nirvana. Being / a fan I asked to work on it. No / one had any idea how big they would / become. Kurt and Dave wanted a photo / of a baby being born in water. I / found a phot sic of a baby in a pool / that they loved. We then hired Kirk Weddle to / shoot a similar photo. I said it needed more and / Kurt jokingly said lets sic add a fish hook. We spent / hours thinking of things we could put on the hook / until someone said a dollar bill. It was perfect!" . Broadside.
