THE FIRST SURGEON GENERAL REPORT ON THE DANGERS OF SMOKING AND THE LINK BETWEEN CIGARETTES AND CANCER!

The 1964 Surgeon General's Report on Smoking and Health reviewed researched and subsequently established the link between smoking and lung cancer and heart disease. The importance of this document on public health in America in almost beyond compare in the 20th Century. In his introduction Surgeon General Terry addresses the "difficult" task of writing this report and his praise for those working on it for "professional skill and dedication of the highest order." While the dangers of smoking had begun to seep into mainstream articles and conversation prior to 1964 this report is the first Government "attack" on tobacco. As such this report led to the avalanche of measures taken over the last fifty years to represent the dangers of smoking as openly and honestly as we can to those who choose to smoke and/or smoke around others.

Original perfect bound wraps. Light wear and some sunning to spine. Wear to edges. Overall a nice copy from a non-smoking environment. Government Printing Office unknown
