Title page in red and black. Six full page copper engravings. Two engraved title pages one for each testament. Last 4 leaves creased and final printed leaf with shallow marginal fraying. Edition de luxe comprenant la reproduction de 2 portraits de Ulrich von Hutten (gravures anonymes du XVIè siècle), d'un portrait de Luther du graveur hollandais Hooghe et d'un fac-similé du manuscrit de Tailhade. Un des 524 exemplaires numérotés sur vergé pur fil Lafuma, seul tirage en grand papier après 26 Vergé de Hollande. L'édition est précédée d'une étude de Laurent Tailhade sur Luther. Bel. exemplaire non coupé. Ce pamphlet fut publié anonymement entre 1515 et 1517 pour défendre l'humaniste Jean REUCHLIN, accusé par l'Inquisition de Cologne de défendre les Juifs. Son auteur, le chevalier allemand Ulrich von Hutten, est un ami d'Erasme et un satiriste.
