1895104055<p>Pamphlet 8vo disbound and removed 13 pp. Some aging and darkening disbound a few lines underlined in pencil: otherwise very good. Calvin Stewart Brice 1845-1898 was born in Denmark Ohio and would become a U.S. senator from that state. He was also a railroad builder and financier. This pamphlet seems to document Brice's efforts to encourage 'aerial navigation.' He gives a little history on the subject and argues that when accomplished it would be "one of the greatest social economic and industrial revolutions in the history of mankind." ANB.</p> books

The books in this 2 volume set are both hard-bound in blue cloth with blind stamping on the covers and gilt stamping on the spines. The bindings are both in rough condition with scuffing/soiling edge-wear rubbing to the corners and spine-ends and with heavy damp-staining to the outer edges of the covers heaviest at the lower cover of Volume I. The hinges are cracked causing play in the covers but with both text-blocks solid. The contents are bright and generally clean but with some light scattered foxing and offsetting/toning and with some faint damp-staining visible at the bottom outer corners of the pages at the rear of Volume I and at the top and bottom edge of the pages at the rear of Volume II.
