This edition is very scarce, and especially more interesting for its American ownership. Jakob Boehme (or Böhme) [1575-1624], German religious mystic, a cobbler of Görlitz, in England also called Behmen. He was a student of the Bible and was influenced by Paracelsus. In his major works, De signatura rerum (The Signature of all Things) and Mysterium magnum, Boehme describes God as the abyss, the nothing and the all, the primordial depths from which the creative will struggles forth to find manifestation and self-consciousness. Evil is a result of the striving of single elements of Deity to become the whole; conflict ensues as man and nature strive to achieve God who, in himself, contains all antithetical principles. Boehme exerted a profound influence on the philosophies of Baader, Schelling, Hegel, and Schopenhauer. Boehme claimed divine revelation and had many followers in Germany and Holland. Le colpe degli uomini ricadono sui figli e, per qualche assurdo gioco del fato, Marvin Gaye vedeva sciogliere la propria vita nel fumo di una calibro 38, dall'altra parte della quale si trovava la mano di suo padre. Ma prima di quel 1° aprile 1984 c'erano stati i giorni del doo wop a fiorire sotto i lampioni del quartiere, di una favola dai contorni sfocati chiamata Motown e dell'ennesimo ritorno da un universo parallelo in cui era fin troppo facile restare intrappolati.
Book is in excellent condition in tan heavy weave HB covers, framed gilt title at spine, full page bust of The Dude opposite title page. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind, page ends at top in pink. Dust jacket is heavily chipped at edges, several large closed tears at folds. 1487 pages on fine paper, zero discoloration or foxing. Contents include: Organon, Physica, (Physics -- complete) , De Caelo, (On the heavens), De Generatione et corruptione (On generation and corruption, complete), De Anima (On the soul, complete), Parva Naturalia (The short physical treatises), Historia Animalium (The history of animals) etc. Beautiful book, impressively preserved.
