ril.

No Cross No Crown, was written when Penn was only 24, while he was in prison in the Tower of London for "blasphemy". He strikes a theme familiar with Christian mystics; but Penn interprets the cross with the utmost puritan rigor, decrying luxury and most of the customary ways of society. His effort is a warning against wrath to come, and only incidentally an invitation to enjoy the crown of rest in the kingdom here and now. An early American edition of an essential exposition on the Quaker faith. Evans 30972. **PRICE JUST REDUCED! PA61 Rt

95 pages. Author's signature and inscription upon title page. "This cycle of compressed lyrics traces the journey of the soul through brokenness and pain to regeneration. These are tangy, surprising mini-parables for our time, moving out of silence into living speech. They display the cryptic humour and metaphoric energy of a contemporary Emily Dickinson." - Susan McCaslin. Clean, bright and unmarked with very light wear. Excellent copy. Book
ril.
