Both texts are printed in two columns and are red ruled throughout. The New Testament ends on S2 verso and is Herbert 683 ESTC R170626. The calf binding is mottled with iron salts. The boards are panelled with a two line roll and another narrow roll with the fittings for clasps with the hinge to the lower board in the continental manner. The arms of the clasps are lacking. The spine has raised bands with simple gilt tooling. The edges are trimmed close denoting a second binding and stained black. The endpapers are characteristic Herrenhut paste papers in a prussian blue combed design. Leaf B9 repaired at the foot with some loss of text. Inscribed on a blank before the title page 'Husey Gould the gift of Mr.Gould Febry. ye 9 1759.' This copy lacks several title pages both of the book as a whole and of individual treatises and also lacks 10 pages of text scattered across three locations. The front board and first page of epistle dedicatory are detached from the rest of the book; this board has a mended corner. The paper is in remarkably good condition throughout apart from a few tears especially considering that the book is over 400 years old - if only some of our modern books were printed on paper as durable as this! Joseph Hall Bishop of Norwich was a Calvinistic Anglican and an English representative at the Synod of Dordt. He held some evangelical and puritan principles but was not part of the Puritan movement. Pasor was well-known for his numerous works on language and grammar but none are prominent as this one on the New Testament. First appearing in 1619 his <em>'Lexicon Graeco-Latinum' </em>would see several editions from several cities of the next few decades. </p><p>This 1664 edition was edited by Schotanus and published in Amsterdam; which vary from those published elsewhere. According to Willems </p><p>"the editions of Pasor's handbook published by Elzeviers in Amsterdam differ from those of Elzevier of Leiden in that Schotanus enriched the vocabulary of the New Testament of all the words that are met in the Greek versions of the Bible."</p><p>This printing features an illustrated engraved title page which is expected among Elzevier printings and is a reimpression of the 1654 printing.
