An early rebind with newer endsheets and fly leaves than the text itself. Inner hinges cracked in both volumes binding else intact solid through texts. This is a Very Good copy of the Scottish issue of Bell's "Poets of Great Britain" issued at the same time as the London edition stated "May 4 1782". Full leather binding of smooth calf with gilt decorations on the spine. Clean text; xxxii the Preface then pages 33 to 174. Textblock exceptionally bright and fresh with a frontis engraving dated 1782. Former-owner bookplate "Lucy Baumer" on the front paste down. Unfortunately the front cover and the first few pages are present but have come loose. Please note the condition issue. Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy in need of repair or restoration.
