In the original paper binding. Externally smart with light shelf wear and chipping. Minor discolouration to the external leaves. Internally disbound into four sections: up to page 6 detached from pages 7 and 8 detached from pages 9 to 16 away from page 17 onwards. Pages are bright with the odd spot and tide marks. Good Only W. It is volumes 31 and 32 from Parson's Select British Classics. Not-quite-contemporary brown leather with gilt titling and decoration leather title pieces at spine; leather edgeworn cracking at spines minor loss at spine heads. An early rebind with newer endsheets and fly leaves than the text itself. Inner hinges cracked in both volumes binding else intact solid through texts. 1782005585Edinburg sic: Apollo Press By the Martins 1782. Isaac Watts 1674-1748 was a logician/theorlogian who was even more popular as a hymn writer. His "Horae Lyricae" dates to 1709. This is a Very Good copy of the Scottish issue of Bell's "Poets of Great Britain" issued at the same time as the London edition stated "May 4 1782". Full leather binding of smooth calf with gilt decorations on the spine. Clean text; xxxii the Preface then pages 33 to 174. Textblock exceptionally bright and fresh with a frontis engraving dated 1782. Former-owner bookplate "Lucy Baumer" on the front paste down. Unfortunately the front cover and the first few pages are present but have come loose. Please note the condition issue. Quercus must offer this as a Binding Copy in need of repair or restoration.
