Contemporary sheep spine ruled in gilt gilt spine label.1810 ownership signatures of Benjamin Lincoln Lear and his original purchase price in ink a few creased corners otherwise an unusually nice copy. Denoted the "Third American Edition" of the work first published in the UK in 1725. More properly it just might be termed the third Exeter edition following those of 1793 and 1801. On the verso of the title appears a typographic frame made up of ornaments and the legend "The Property Of." In this copy the original owner has inserted a small label with his name in ink manuscript. His larger printed bookplate appears on the pastedown.
