This was the copy of the author John Fowles 1926-2005 with his embossed book stamp to the front free endpaper; also with the contemporary inscription "Ellen Fox prize for attention to lessons and good behaviour January 1820" to the front free endpaper and with her ownership signature facing on the pastedown. Octavo 128 x 99 mm. Folding map of Europe frontispiece 28 woodcut plates each with three illustrations i.e. 84 in total. Contemporary possibly publisher's green quarter sheep over plain card boards "European Scenes" written on front cover in a contemporary hand.
