Slight wear to spine ends and corners endpaper light scattered foxing to exterior leaves else a very good copy. HOWES L-165. "General Anthony Lamb the son of Gen. John Lamb was desirous that his father's exploits in the Revolution should be commemorated in a book and his brother-in-law Isaac Q. Leake undertook from the family papers and other sources to prepare this memorial volume. The family was parsimonious of money and Leake was furnished with a capital of $380 only with which to procure an engraved portrait and have the printing done. The interest in General Lamb was not sufficient to create a brisk sale and the work therefore did not pay. An effort was made to sell the edition to Gen. Anthony for the debt remaining upon it but without effect"--Munsell Imprints p.41. unknown
