All of the painting and red Chinese characters are hand-drawing only the below black Chinese characters were typed on a paper and then adhered to the painting. Have slight fold which probably can be recovered because the fold is formed by whole put together with others.</p><p>The soldier worker and peasant are holding a red books with title "Maoism Thought" . The three banners are captioned with "Ready for Battle Ready for Famine For People" "Long Live For the Victory of the hygienism Route of Chairman Mao’s Proletariat Revolution" and "Put the emphasis of the work of hygienism and Health into Rural Area" respectively. The two plates are captioned with "Must Demolish thoroughly the remaining toxin of the hygienism Route of Anti-revolutionary Revisionism" and "Must eliminate leptospirosis thoroughly " respectively.</p><p>At the bottom the adhered small paper was typed "printed by Revolutionary Committee of Epidemic Prevention of Yunnan Province printed in June 1971" so it is the original hand-drawing poster for printing in 1971 but do not know if its printed counterpart had been publised later because as far as I know I have not seen its printed counterpart.</p>

A poster advertising Stevie Wonder at Sheffield’s Mojo Club in October 1967. Wonder would have been just seventeen at the time though he had already dropped “Little†from his stage name. The Mojo Club in working-class Sheffield was the project of brothers Peter and Geoff Stringfellow; the pair had previously worked as promoters and were preternaturally talented having booked the Beatles for April of 1962 shortly before the release of “Love Me Doâ€.1 Stevie Wonder would be the last live act at the Mojo as it was shut down by the city three days later on October 10.<br /> <br /> 1 Steve Walker “The King Mojo Club†2020 https://www.kingmojostory.com. unknown

1873214113Japan. Meiji 6 1873. Four very attractive colour folded woodblock school posters 60 x 78cm each with accompanying woodblock printed textbook 32 double-folded leaves 22.5 x 15cm. Edges of posters worn with some minimal loss at margins the accompanying textbook is worn at edges with some thumb marks at lower corners but sound and generally clean. Overall good. Offers a fascinating glimpse into the beginnings of modern Japanese education. A wonderful collection of four primary school colour posters and a teacher's textbook dating to the very beginning of modern school education in Japan. The four posters contain sets of beautifully coloured and delicately printed pictures illustrating key words which children would be taught to read together with the corresponding kanji characters. The posters are divided by theme - one showing parts of the body and clothes; one showing crockery and cooking utensils; one with animals plants and tools; and one household items including a clock chair and abacus. They are particularly interesting for their combination of traditional Japanese and western items. The accompanying woodblock print text book 師範学校小学教授法 Shihan gakkō shōgaku kyōjuhō was published in Meiji 6 1873 and show how to explain each item in the classroom. <br> <br>The posters have the chops of Chikuma Prefecture current Nagano Prefecture and 1000 limited copies at the top. . hardcover

In 1987 Brooklyn-based hip-hop group The Fat Boys released their fourth studio album Crushin’ which featured a hit version of the Surfaris’ “Wipeout†recorded with the Beach Boys. This poster is from their 1987 tour where they were supported by 4 by Four Salt N Pepa and Heavy D and the Boyz and Dana Dane all of whom had just released their first albums. unknown

The artist of the poster Barbara Remington was born in Minneapolis and later moved to New York to work as an illustrator. The production of this poster was rushed as Ballantine found itself in competition with Ace Books: both publishers were releasing paperback editions of the Lord of the Rings series. Ballantine wanted to beat Ace to the punch and gave Remington only days to complete this poster's design. An intricate visual representation of Tolkien's geography. One corner quite wrinkled and with an archival tape repair the right top edge of the poster wrinkled a few surface creases to the poster but it is complete with bright color. Ballantine Books unknown

1982List2881Queens New York 1982. 6 x 8 ½ inch flyer. Fine. Flyer for the “Great M.C. Showdown†at Martin Van Buren High School in Queens New York hosted by Mr. Sweety-G. According to his personal website Mr. Sweety-G—aka Glenn Toby—was working with some of the biggest hip hop artists of the late 1970s and early 1980s including Grandmaster Flash Doug E. Fresh Biz Markie and more thanks in part to Harlem-based promoters Mike & Dave Productions. The flyer is uncredited but looks to have been designed by Buddy Esquire Lemoin Thompson an artist from the Bronx who designed over 300 flyers for hip hop events around this time and described his style based on old Art Deco movie posters as “neo-decoâ€.1<br /> <br /> 1 Amanda Lalonde “Buddy Esquire and the Early Hip Hop Flyer†Popular Music 33 no. An original lobby poster for this pre-code Western set against the backdrop of cattle rustling in 1877 Utah. George O'Brien stars as itinerant cowboy Jim Hall who joins Hank Hays' band of rustlers only to fall in love with rancher Cecil Herrick's daughter Helen played by Maureen O'Sullivan. The movie was filmed entirely in Arizona. Zane Grey based his original western on the activities of Butch Cassidy who after rustling cattle would hide them on Robbers' Roost. The H.C. Miner Litho Co. of New York was originally Founded in 186 by H.C. Miner and son Miner Jr. After a reorganization in 1908 the company operated under Hugo Zigfield until 1935. RARE exhibition poster no date circa 1982- 1990 by Ken Meharg and Bob Linney who ran the poster operation for Birmingham Arts Laboratory or Arts Lab an experimental arts centre in Birmingham until 1982. Posters from that era were featured in an international touring exhibition by the British Council between 1981 and 1985 and were the subject of an exhibition by Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in 1998. They were known for their use of psychedelic imagery. Near Fine small faint creases. Well suited for framing will be shipped loosely rolled in a mailing tube. X3 Posters unknown
1986List2877Oakland California 1986. 18 x 25 inch poster on heavy cardstock. Fine. Poster for Run-DMC’S Raising Hell Tour featuring Whodini LL Cool J and R&B group Timex Social Club. Run-DMC were touring on their third studio album Raising Hell which went triple platinum. Later tour dates including New York City Pittsburgh and Long Beach were disrupted by alleged gang violence causing Run-DMC to cancel at least one date. Nonetheless the album and tour are variously credited with kicking off the so-called golden age of hip-hop and cementing the genre in popular culture making the careers of LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys who did not play at this particular date and reviving the career of Aerosmith. unknown

MULTI-COLOR SOME SHOWING HONG WEI BING ARM BANDS . . . AND MAO "LITTLE RED BOOKS" . This is a collection of twenty-one color "DA PI PAN HUA CE" "CRITICISM POSTERS" from the "WEN HUA DA GEMING" "CULTURAL REVOLUTION" as led in the streets by the "HONG WEI BING" or "RED GUARDS" during the period 1966 through 1976. . The collection consists of a very nice color group of clipped items from unknown sources journals and from collected 'hand-bills' distributed in the streets as well as mini-"RED GUARD" posters published during the "CULTURAL REVOLUTION" period in China. Being ephemeral it's a wonder they even survived. These fascinating items reflect the current political thought of the period with the super nationalistic "RED GUARDS" as the main actors. . THE ITEMS: a. Small poster in black red against white paper. Shows six Chinese: worker soldier student and others who most likely are also "RED GUARDS" using an old fashioned fountain pen to quash intellectuals professors anti-revolutionaries. Couple of small restorations to verso 14.5 x 21.3 cm. overall very good. . b. A small poster in black red against white paper laid down on stiff board. Shows two workers holding up Mao Zedong book: "MAO ZEDONG JI" COLLECTED WORKS OF MAO ZEDONG." In the background is an unruly crowd of "HONG WEI BING" or "RED GUARDS" waving flags Mao red books. Captions read: There is a small repair to the upper left corner with a bit of loss to the red else clean solid 11.3 x 16 cm. . c. A small poster consisting of four views from the upper right it is a worker holding a paint brush to brush glue on walls and a girl holding posters. A worker holding a Mao red book. The members consisted of Mao Zedong's last wife Jiang Qing the leading figure of the group and her close associates Zhang Chunqiao Yao Wenyuan and Wang Hongwen. . Together with disgraced general Lin Biao were labeled the two major "counter-revolutionary forces" of the Cultural Revolution and officially blamed by the Chinese government for the worst excesses of the societal chaos that ensued during the ten years of turmoil. Various sizes thirteen are roughly 305mm x 425mm in size with the others larger often 490mm x 780mm with a couple even larger various dates but mainly 1980-2001. Twenty are printed in colour. Generally in decent order one or two slightly creased with small closed tears a few with small nicks and tears a couple with blu-tack staining to corners. Two large colour lithograph advertising posters sized 38.25 x 51 in. and 28.75 x 38.5 in. respectively both bearing the Golden Trumpeter logo as rendered by noted artist Robert Reinhardt von Liski minor dustsoiling creasing faint dampstain to very lower right fore-edge of larger poster minor closed tears neatly repaired light age toning still both bright VG- copies now mounted and shrink wrapped on archival foam core. The Hart Schaffner & Marx logo for men’s fashion was first created by Edward Penfield in 1914 with the trumpeter bearing an upright lance but the next year had turned into a trumpet and would continue on HSM suits until the late 1980’s. Hart Schaffner & Marx was founded in 1887 by Harry and Max Hart Marcus Marx and Joseph Schaffner. By the early 20th century they owned dozens of small garment factories around Chicago and was one of the first tailoring/garment manufacturing firms to become unionized. They continued to grow through the 20th century and by the end of the 1960s had 38 factories and 250 retail stores around the country. The Company continues to operate under the Hartmarx label and is one of the leading men’s clothing wholesalers to this day. Von Liski 1908-1991 was a noted self-taught artist and commercial artist who worked for various studios and was a partner in a Chicago advertising agency. Locksley Hall was a Spokane-based psychedelic rock group formed in 1967 who nearly had a record deal with Epic in 1969. The project was scrapped and was not rediscovered until 1996 when it was finally released by Indianapolis-based Or Records. This hand-painted poster advertises the band playing for “one night only†at the Pasadena Che House—likely a house venue as the name suggests—in June of 1971 and notes that the band had previously played with Phil Ochs “Eric Burden sic & War†and others. Collection of eight colour-printed Nianhua posters the central images onlaid within a stiff red paper border with a thin cream paper frame worn and discoloured and at the top of each a fine aqua paper border; the sheets a little creased two of the images with a visible tide-mark minor edge tears not affecting the images strengthened neatly on the verso with washi one with an early paper repair to the verso of the margin approx. 93 x 51.5cms sheet size in good condition. Eight Nianhua posters six feature traditional narrative tales one based on a woodblock print one possibly of a movie heroine and one other features a pair of chubby toddlers holding a tray of peaches and flowers symbols of longevity and abundance. . unknown
