1967List2885Sheffield United Kingdom 1967. 20 x 30 inch poster on heavy cardstock. Some staining and scuffing pinholes and some tears at edges fine contrast; overall excellent. A poster advertising Stevie Wonder at Sheffield’s Mojo Club in October 1967. Wonder would have been just seventeen at the time though he had already dropped “Little†from his stage name. The Mojo Club in working-class Sheffield was the project of brothers Peter and Geoff Stringfellow; the pair had previously worked as promoters and were preternaturally talented having booked the Beatles for April of 1962 shortly before the release of “Love Me Doâ€.1 Stevie Wonder would be the last live act at the Mojo as it was shut down by the city three days later on October 10.<br /> <br /> 1 Steve Walker “The King Mojo Club†2020 https://www.kingmojostory.com. unknown

In 1987 Brooklyn-based hip-hop group The Fat Boys released their fourth studio album Crushin’ which featured a hit version of the Surfaris’ “Wipeout†recorded with the Beach Boys. This poster is from their 1987 tour where they were supported by 4 by Four Salt N Pepa and Heavy D and the Boyz and Dana Dane all of whom had just released their first albums. unknown
1973List2886Fort Worth Texas 1973. 18 x 23 ½ inch poster on heavy cardstock. Some creasing and wear chip at top left corner; excellent. A poster advertising a 1973 concert and dance with celebrated R&B act and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Sam and Dave Sam Moore and Dave Prater at La Chic Club in Fort Worth Texas. The duo earned the nickname “Double Dynamite†as they are called on the poster from their legendary live performances. unknown
1982List2881Queens New York 1982. 6 x 8 ½ inch flyer. Fine. Flyer for the “Great M.C. Showdown†at Martin Van Buren High School in Queens New York hosted by Mr. Sweety-G. According to his personal website Mr. Sweety-G—aka Glenn Toby—was working with some of the biggest hip hop artists of the late 1970s and early 1980s including Grandmaster Flash Doug E. Fresh Biz Markie and more thanks in part to Harlem-based promoters Mike & Dave Productions. The flyer is uncredited but looks to have been designed by Buddy Esquire Lemoin Thompson an artist from the Bronx who designed over 300 flyers for hip hop events around this time and described his style based on old Art Deco movie posters as “neo-decoâ€.1<br /> <br /> 1 Amanda Lalonde “Buddy Esquire and the Early Hip Hop Flyer†Popular Music 33 no. Poster for “Rap Off ‘89†a sizable hip-hop festival and possibly as the name suggests rap competition held at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose California. The event features acts from Oakland “Oak Town†San Jose and Los Angeles with the “Ice-T Family†as special guests and benefits the Women of Christ Organization. unknown

Chinese Cultural Revolution poster in colour depicting a wounded soldier in the centre of the image charging fearlessly towards the enemy while behind him a combat medic tries to resume medical treatment on him. In the background more soldiers fight. Lower and right edges lightly browned occasional closed tears right edge otherwise in very good condition. Blocks of text right section and lower margin in Chinese and French. Poster measures 53.1 x 76.6cm. Blocks of text in French and Chinese give a brief summary of the story it translates as: <br> <br>"The picture depicts a heroic soldier who was wounded in the head in a battle against aggression. In order to defend Chairman Mao and the motherland he stops the medical treatment from a combat medic and continues to rush to the enemy with his submachine gun. Various sizes thirteen are roughly 305mm x 425mm in size with the others larger often 490mm x 780mm with a couple even larger various dates but mainly 1980-2001. Twenty are printed in colour. Generally in decent order one or two slightly creased with small closed tears a few with small nicks and tears a couple with blu-tack staining to corners. Albers.NL Decoratieve poster van een oude foto van L.J.P. Albers van de blauwe tram in Den Haag nieuwe Scheveningse bosjes. De Blauwe Tram reed op zaterdag 31 augustus 1957 voor het laatst van Voorburg naar Scheveningen. In september 1942 moest de Blauwe Tramlijn op last van de Duitse bezetter Scheveningen verlaten in verband met de bouw van de Atlantikwall. Pas in het voorjaar van 1947 kon de Blauwe Tram eindelijk weer doorrijden naar Scheveningen. De Voorburgse burgemeester dr. J.W. Nooteboom sprak bij de feestelijke heropening dat Voorburg weer aan de kust kwam te liggen. Helaas was dat van korte duur. Gelijktijdig met het afscheid te Scheveningen in 1957 verdween de Blauwe Tram op het baanvak AmsterdamHaarlemZandvoort 's nachts uitgeleide gedaan door duizenden toeschouwers. RARE exhibition poster no date circa 1982- 1990 by Ken Meharg and Bob Linney who ran the poster operation for Birmingham Arts Laboratory or Arts Lab an experimental arts centre in Birmingham until 1982. Posters from that era were featured in an international touring exhibition by the British Council between 1981 and 1985 and were the subject of an exhibition by Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in 1998.
