Giovanni Nepomuceno espressa come viddesi quando nell'attuale visita che se ne fece con autorità appostolica l'a. 1725 nel di 27 gennaio si rigonfiò e cangiossi di pallida e smorta in vermiglia e porporina". T. cart. rustico coevo. Giovanni nacque a Nepomuck, in Boemia, nel 1330 ca. e fu elemosiniere a Praga dell'imp.Wenceslao, uomo vizioso e estremamente crudele, che, durante un banchetto, "s'avvenne in un cappone ch'era per avventura mal arrostito" e "comandò si legasse immantemente il cuoco allo spiedo e vivo vivo a fuoco d'ardenti fiamme s'arrostisse" (p.37). Dubitando della fedeltà della moglie, di cui il Nepumeceno era confessore, Wenceslao ordinò al santo di rompere il sigillo della confessione e, al rifiuto, lo fece torturare e gettare nella Moldava, nel 1383. Nel 1729 (anno di pubblic. di questa op.), Benedetto XIII lo fece canonizzare. Del santo vengono narrati numerosi miracoli e la riesumazione delle ossa, avvenuta nel 1719, e "ciò che non potè osservarsi senza farsene meraviglia, si è che le costole della parte sinistra erano quasi tutte sugose e oleoginose... tale emissione di sugo oleoginoso a ragione si giudica prodigiosa"(p.90) e "ritrovossi nella terra... una certa massa o sostanze molle, flaccida, rara, spugnosa, quale naturalmente suol essere l'umana lingua"(p.91), che fu posta in un reliquiario nella cattedrale di Praga. Quando fu avviato il processo di canonizzazione, il 27 gen. 1725, nella cattedrale di Praga, fu aperto il reliquiario, dove la "sacra lingua di Giovanni, pallida e esamine per tanti anni (divenne) in quell'ore, per così dire animata e vivente"(p.101) come dipinta nell'inc. in inch. rosso a p.100. Di questa op. esiste un solo esempl. censito da ICCU.
