Per la prima volta pubblicata nel "Theatro del mondo" di Pietro Marchetti edito a Brescia nel 1598, questa carta è tratta dalle "Relationi universali di Giovanni Botero", pubblicato sempre in Brescia nel 1599. Le carte, copiate da quelle incise da Philipp Galle per l'Epitome di Ortelius (Anversa 1583), sono incise da un anonimo artista e inserite in una pagina di testo in italiano. Nota anche una ristampa delle stesse, pubblicata da Alessandro Vecchi a Venezia nel 1618 e ancora nel "Theatro del mondo" di Giovanni M. Turrini, (1655), e Scipion Banca (1657). Incisione in rame, in ottimo stato di conservazione. Rara. Miniature map, first published by Pietro Maria Marchetti in "Theatro del mondo" (Brescia 1598), this example is taken from "Relationi universali di Giovanni Botero", Brescia 1599. The second epitome of Abraham Ortelius’ folio !eatrum was produced in Italy by Pietro Maria Marchetti and the 109 new maps, by an unknown engraver, are accompanied by Italian text. The plates are close imitations of those of Philip Galle (see 1577 & 1583), likely the 1593 edition with Italian text.These maps were also used by the same publisher to illustrate an edition of Giovanni Botero’s Le Relationi universali, probably issued in 1599 as its preface was dated 15 December 1598. Another edition published by Alessandro Vecchi, Venice, 1618, included a reissue of the 1599 sheets.Theey were published again in 1655 (there were two issues with different title-pages and dedications dated 15 July & 20 September) and also 1667 in the "Theatro del mondo" by Giovanni Turrini e Scipion Banca. Carta geografica tratta dal rarissimo "Anfiteatro d'Europa" edito a Venezia nel 1623. Il libro, scritto con testo di Giovanni Doglioni, fu pubbicato dall'editore veneziano Giacomo Sarzina. Illustrato da una carta del mondo e 33 carte dell'Europa ne testo. Stranamente le mappe sono riprese da quelle che illustrano l'Epitome di Ortelius incise da Philip Galle e non da quelle dell'edizione pirata della stessa opera pubblictaa a Brescia da Pietro Marchetti (1598). Si tratta pertanto di nuove lastre, che presentano picocle differenze rispetto a quelle del Marchetti, alle quali ad un primo esame assomigliano. L'opera non fu mai ristampata ed è pertanto rara. Incisione in rame, inserita nella pagina di testo descrittivo alla carta, fori di tarlo, per il resto in buono stato di conservazione. Map from the very rare “Anfiteatro d’Europa” published in Venice in 1623. The book was written by Giovanni Doglioni and it was published by the Venetian Giacomo Sarzina. Together with the text there are one world map and 33 maps of Europe. Oddly enough, these maps were realized after those shown in Ortelius Epitome, engraved by Philip Galle, and not after the pirate edition published by Pietro Marchetti in Venice. These are therefore new plates, presenting minor differences with those of Marchetti. The work has never been reissued and is quite rare. Vrients, 1609 and Plantin Press, 1612. This German issue was made in Frankfurt (1604), with the title Ausszug auss Abrahami Ortely theatro by Jan Keerbergen & Levinus Hulsius.In 1601 Jan Keerbergen published the first edition of a world atlas with all the plates engraved by Ambrose and Ferdinand Arsenius and with text by Michael Coignet.The maps were all nicely drawn and engraved and easily recognized, as they have wide borders showing latitude and longitude. The 123 plates were for the most part copied from those in the 1601 Jan B. Vrients’ edition of Philip Galle’s version, though not arranged in the same sequence.Etching, good condition.

This is a complete issue, seldom found in such good and original condition. This is a most fascinating and comprehensive report on the then new and somewhat politically controversial boundaries of Hungary, as outlined in the Treaty of Trianon, with sections on the Treaty and the covering letter, the preliminary meetings which took place, maps, method of work, technical work, and several pages on the Frontier by Sections. The author provides a brief summary of the history of the two countries, as far as their mutual relations are concerned, in order to provide insight into the thinking of the two interested Commissioners, including the very sensitive points of view of Magyar and Croat historians on the relationship between Hungary and Croatia.
