His caricatures were mostly faithful likenesses of his subjects. His sons included the illustrator James William Edmund Doyle and painter/illustrator Richard Dicky Doyle. Caption reads "I beg gentleman you will not laugh to loud lest you disturb the slumbers of our honourable chairman." A scene during the debate in Committee on the third Reform Bill Sir Charles Wetherell member of Parliament speaks of Bernal asleep the Chairman of The Committee. His omment produced a general roar of laughter which raised him from his slumber. On the Ministerial front bench are left to right Sir. J. Graham Althorp member in wig and a smiling Lord J. Russell. Stanley says "I felt such indignation that I had the greatest difficulty to restrains myself from calling on the Right Honorable Gentleman to retract his words." Lord J. Russell tugs at his coat-tails while Sir James Graham arms folded and legs stretched smiles sardonically. Stanley and the whigs supported the Reform Bill the Tories were opposed. The Duke kicks at his opponents stating the Corn Bill must be carried. The two tilted blocks toward Wellington represent Lansdowne and Grey. Goderich pointing to Wellington says "This Opposition is mot appalling -- your squibs will not even singe their whiskers. You'd better make Field-marshals of them. - I oppose the third reading." Canning with a mocking smile. says: "That's a good and rich idea; they'll make excellent Marshals - their head will need little protection." A few small spots at right margin. S.W. George Stephen Kemble 21 April 1758 - 5 June 1822 was a successful English theatre manager actor and writer and a member of the famous Kemble family. His sister Sarah Siddons a famous actress. He managed the original Theatre Royal Newcastle for fifteen years 1791-1806. Tiny nicks at head and foot outside image area. Robert Dighton's early work was issued anonymously but by the early 1790s it became increasingly well known and he began etching and publishing under his own name and his success allowed him to open a shop in Charing Cross. In this compendium of communications between the Court of Common Council and George III covering the years 1769-1778 one sees the London court's steadfast objections to trade restrictions placed on the American colonies in 1775 the court's recommendations to "suspend hostilities against our fellow-subjects in North America" and its extended position paper counseling conciliation with the rebellious colonies. The text reports correspondence from the Continental Congress signed by John Hancock and from Richard Price and includes discussion of the Quebec Act of 1774 and the Newfoundland fisheries.
