L'importante introduction, datée de 1885, est largement consacré à Wagner et au Wagnérisme. Bon exemplaire, frais, très bien relié.

This is a fine hardcover copy in a fine dust jacket with just a small scratch on the back cover by the spine. Signed in ink by the photographer Catherine Wagner and also by the author Sheryl Conkelton on the half title-page. Not inscribed to anyone, just signed. Otherwise completely clean throughout inside and out. This catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in the summer of 1993. Essays by Conkelton and Anne Lamott. Biographical sketch. Bibliography. Checklist with 34 works catalogued. All illustrated in black & white. 10" high X 12" wide, 95 pages. A fine signed copy. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.

br. Migliaia le pagine che compongono i diari di Cosima Wagner, un racconto scandito nel tempo che la seconda moglie del grande compositore scrisse nel corso di quattordici anni. Da questo testo Alessandro Taverna ha estratto i frammenti nei quali Cosima narra i sogni di Richard. Ed ecco che nel susseguirsi della narrazione è possibile incontrare un uomo che le biografie ufficiali non hanno mai descritto. Paure e desideri, speranze e fallimenti sono messi in scena ogni notte. Spetta a Cosima, la mattina, il compito di scrivere su carta quanto ascoltato al risveglio. "In questo esercizio di scrittura, dal sonno si entra e si esce. Nel sonno si sprofonda e si riemerge".

Osservazioni in risposta ad una lettera sul vero e pseudo genio indirizzata da Max Nordau ad un collaboratore del 'Corriere della domenica', anno 1902; L'opera di Riccardo Wagner dopo l'esecuzione della tetralogia al Teatro Costanzi nella primavera del 1902.
br. "Il più grande epigono di Schopenhauer è stato indubbiamente Wagner, anche in campo strettamente filosofico". Con gesto inconfondibile, Verrecchia sgombra l'orizzonte da annosi errori e luoghi comuni, costringendo Nietzsche - finora l'unico erede "riconosciuto" di Schopenhauer - in "un cantuccio piagnucoloso". L'ammirazione per Wagner traspare bene da tutti gli scritti di Verrecchia, ma egli aveva dedicato un intero saggio al musicista filosofo, innovativo interprete di Buddha e Schopenhauer. Quel saggio - pimpante e dottissimo - è rimasto rocambolescamente inedito e secretato fra le carte della sua biblioteca. Nel darlo oggi a nuova luce sono stati aggiunti, a mo' di medaglione wagneriano, alcuni elzeviri apparsi su "La Stampa" affini per tema e sfolgorio stilistico. Così - dopo Bruno, Schopenhauer e Nietzsche Verrecchia chiude con piglio magistrale il giro delle proprie passioni di studio: culmine di pessimismo e libero pensiero.
