Pompei – La documentazione nell’opera di disegnatori e pittori dei secoli XVIII e XIX. Collana I luoghi dell’Arte. Opera pubblicata nel 2003, stampata su carta speciale Scheufelen che contiene una raccolta di disegni conservati al Museo Nazionale di Napoli oltre a 28 tavole, fuori testo, stampate su carta velata. Rilegatura in pelle rossa con quattro nervature sul dorso e cofanetto di protezione in seta rossa. Formato 25,5x33,5 cm. Pagine 1053. Peso 8,060 kg. Condizioni ottime.
In 8 (cm 15,5 x 23), pp. 94 + (2) con 16 tavole finali incise all'acquaforte. Brossura editoriale. Rara opera, in seconda edizione corredata da un maggior numero di tavole (edizione originale con titolo differente uscita nel 1825 con sole 4 tavole), con la descrizione delle opere di arte classica conservate presso il Museo Reale Borbonico di Napoli, oggi Museo archeologico nazionale, fra le quali alcune opere pompeiane. Andrea De Jorio (Procida, 1769 - Napoli, 1851) e' stato un archeologo ed etnografo. Varie le sue pubblicazioni su Ercolano, Pompei, Cuma, Pozzuoli e sul Museo Borbonico napoletano. E' noto in particolare per l'opera "La Mimica degli antichi investigata nel gestire napoletano", la prima opera dedicata alla gestualita' dei Napoletani.
In 8, pp. (4) + 88 con 44 tavv. f. t. inc. all'acquaf. alcune piu' volte rip. M. pg. ottcentesca. Rara e interessante descrizione in edizione originale. Esiste una ristampa analogo in data 1844 citata dal Furchheim p. 22 e da Borroni, 7524.

Bound in ornately decorated crimson cloth stamped in gilt and black floral patterned endpapers gilt turn ins all edges gilt. Some rubbing to edges of boards staining to paste downs but clean and bright internally and very good or better. <br /> <br /> Bound volume of the second year of this uncommon Italian archeological periodical edited by Giulio Minervini of the Royal Museum at Naples and issued during the height of Bourbon-era excavations at Pompeii. The finely engraved plates depict Pompeian frescoes figural scenes inscriptions and archaeological objects including detailed renderings of wall paintings and classical motifs. According to OCLC this publication ran from 1842-1860 with the Nuova Serie beginning in 1852. As far as physical holdings OCLC cites perhaps 3 institutions all in Europe.
