8vo., First Edition, with numerous plates and maps; grey cloth, backstrip lettered in black, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Published to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary, this is the finest overall treatment of the airborne battle (Operation MARKET). It is Middlebrook at his best, painstakingly combining many valuable vernacular accounts with a characteristically well-researched view of the background. Note that it does not cover the ground forces making their way towards Arnhem (Operation GARDEN). A beautiful copy of a superb tribute.
