Edition originale publiée par Louis Colet (1810-1876), connue pour avoir été la maîtresse de Victor Cousin, Gustave Flaubert, Alfred de Vigny, Musset ou Villemain, mais qui fut également écrivain et chose rare pour l'époque réussit à vivre de sa plume... Blessée par sa rupture avec Flaubert en 1855 que lui rappelait la parution de Madame Bovary en décembre 1856, puis par sa rupture avec Vigny en 1857, Louise Colet avait entrepris ce bref voyage d'environ 15 jours en Hollande pour changer d'air et également pour des raisons financières.
