El ingeniero Malinowski (1818-1899) es famoso por la construcción del Sistema Ferroviario Transandino de Perú que circula a una altura de 4818 m. sobre el nivel del mar (el más elevado del mundo). La construcción del Ferrocarril Transandino es una empresa considerada, hasta hoy, como increible, algunos incluso la califican como una maravilla del mundo. Parte del puerto de Callao sobre el Pacífico, pasa por la capital del país (Lima) y atravesando los Andes llega hasta Montaña en el interior. Pero la altura de esta línea (en comparación el ferrocarril más alto de Europa llega hasta 1120 m y el de los Himalayas hasta 2390 m) no es su único mérito. Impresiona la cantidad de túneles y la dificultad en la construcción de más de 30 puentes y viaductos (…). El ingeniero Malinowski aplicó muchas soluciones innovadoras en el campo de la tecnología de construcción de puentes y ferrocarriles. Fue uno de los primeros que contemplaron en sus cálculos la influencia de la dinámica de cargas móviles, el empuje del viento, la fuerza centrífuga. Consiguió evaluar el papel de estas sobrecargas en la resistencia de los materiales utilizados. Le député de la Guadeloupe soumet son projet de création d'un Comité colonial composé de députés des colonies, de colons et de négociants blancs, afin d'élaborer une constitution coloniale spécifique. Par la suite, Curt émigra en Angleterre. Il y négocia le traité de Whitehall (1793) entre les Anglais et les grands planteurs français des Antilles pour permettre à ces derniers de combattre les troupes révolutionnaires et de s'opposer à l'émancipation des Noirs. First edition of this useful and scarce biography. In 1860, Gresham was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives, with the start of the Civil War he secured a commission in the 38th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He then was promoted to Colonel and given command of the 53rd Indiana Regiment. He and the 53rd were sent to join General Ulysses S. Grant's army. He fought at Corinth; through the Mississippi operations and the fall of Vicksburg; at Kenesaw Mountain, and Leggett's Hill, where he was wounded by a Sharpshooter By the end of the Civil War, he had attained the rank of Major General. Gresham became a federal judge and served as a member of three presidential cabinets. Under President Chester Arthur, Gresham was Postmaster General and Secretary of the Treasury. In 1892, he was named Secretary of State by President Grover Cleveland. He served in that position until his death in 1895. Very good. **PRICE JUST REDUCED! SHELF W27
