Complete run of the Bulletin 1913 through 1962 issued irregularly 7 additional issues through 1980 41 total all booklets in variously colored stiff wraps. The issues from Vol. I No. 1 1913 through Vol. II No. 8 1946 are collectively bound into one volume black leatherette spine panel lettered in gilt; Vol. III No. 1 1947 through Vol. III No. 10 1956 are collectively bound into a second volume dark blue buckram spine panel lettered in gilt; the remainder Vol. IV Nos. 1-4 6 1959-62 1964 1968 1976-80 are loose as issued. All bound issues retain original wraps. Both hardcovers are minimally ex-library with call labels mounted on lower spines but did not circulate and thus show virtually no wear; the loose issues show minor shelf/handling wear. A rare opportunity to acquire the majority of this scarce historical run in virtually unused condition the bound issues exceptionally well preserved. Issues vary in length from 20 pp. to 170. The Bulletin was issued erratically over the years but we have collated volume and issue numbers to guarantee completeness please note that no volumes were issued between 1956 and 1959. Pages unnumbered but 22 pages which include a five-year history of the Texas Cowboy Artists Association a page about the featured entertainer Ken Curtis of Gunsmoke fame show information and a biographical page with accompanying photo of the artist and example of his work for each of the ten artists exhibiting at the show. 190521408New York: Geo. Borgfeldt & Co 1905. Hardcover. Very good. 84 pp extensively illustrated with portraits and views of the company's various branches and departments. Bound in half-cloth and dark-green paper-covered boards with lovely art nouveau design stamped in black endpapers patterened with the company logo attractive design features throughout. Foot of spine bumped foxing to last four pages binding has a little play but overall a nice copy. Laid in is an embossed compliments card sent with the book printed on thick cardstock and dated January 1 1906. Founded in 1881 Geo. Borgfeldt & Company was best known as an importer and distributer of dolls and other toys but also dealt in china and cut glass stationery musical instruments imported glassware household furnishings decorative objects and a variety of "notions' and "fancy goods." Later in the 20th century the company would obtain the first major contract to sell Disney character merchandise. According to this book -- the only published history of this successful company - George Borgfeldt "conceived of the idea" of being able to offer Americans merchants easier access to a variety of foreign goods by "assembling in New York samples of the products of the best factories of Europe manufacturing dolls toys and kindred articles and of booking import orders through the display of these samples." His first location at 83 Leonard Street in New York City had 6.750 square feet of display space in which 100000 items were available for inspection by wholesale buyers. The text goes on to describe the evolution of this sales model and the company's subsequent growth. Separate short sections summarize the history of each of the different sales departments. Geo. 20961Visiting Nurse Association. Very good. Undated c. 1920s trade/advertising card for the Visting Nurse Association of New Britain Connecticut. 3.5 x 6 inches. Light soiling and edgewear about very good. Text on one side describes what visiting nurses do including offering in-home care to the sick advising expectant mothers "on matters of hygeine" teaching general health information and holding "Well Baby Conferences" where babies are weighted and mothers advised as to their proper care. On the other side is a list of rates but also a noted that "where patients cannot afford to pay stated prices less amounts are acceptable and free care when necessary." Visiting nurse associations were formed in many cities in the northeastern United States in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Most offered instruction on hygiene general health care maternity and childcare to poor women especially recent immigrants. unknown books

This Civil War view shows the pontoon bridge that the XVIII Corps of the Army of the James crossed on June 15 1864 prior to the battle of Petersburg. The stereoview is in good condition: clean and bright with some fading and light foxing. Provenance: from the collection of Robert N. Dennis who was one of the most important stereoview collectors in the United States. The New York Public Library's "Robert N.
